Since the fall of 2000 Chad Brannon has been wowing viewers
of ABC's General Hospital with his emotinally charged, multi-faceted
potrayal of one time thug "Zander Smith". Although
he was originally cast only to appear on the show for six
weeks, Chad's ability to bring emotional depth and vulnerability
to the part earned him not only the adoration of fans but
also an extended stint on the show.
That
might seem to be most young actors' idea of success, but Chad's
fans wanted more for him, and they were not going to be satisfied
until he had a long-term contract. So, while he was working
hard on the set, they were working hard behind the scenes-organizing
letter and postcard writing campaigns, turning out in droves
to see him at personal appearances and clogging the GH comment
line with calls on days his scenes aired.
All the hard work paid off on both sides of the camera, and
Chad was signed to the show for three years, thanks in large
part to the fans. They were smart enough to know a good thing
when they saw it...and tenacious enough to go the extra mile
to make their voices heard.
